Another good moth trap for May, with 45 of 27 species present. Highlight was this Peach Blossom, one of 9 nfy I the garden.
It is fairly regular and common, and it's always lovely to see one this fresh!!

I was thinking to myself the other day that I wanted to see a Muslin Moth and, lo and behold, there was one in last night's trap. Such a beauty.

Nfy last night was this buff tip on a finger tip. It always surprises me how big they actually are, especially when they fly off.
Beautiful!!

Best of the new for the year moths from last night, plus a pretty nondescript pug that was new for the garden. Probably the smartest Dog's Tooth I've had.
Totals were 52 of 26 species, with 12 nfy, and 1 nfg.

Lydd on Sea VC15, even with 2 traps, a chilly night yielded up 30 of 11sp, the โ€œStar Turnโ€ was my first Buff-tip of the year.

A lovely surprise! I collected a mystery from under a log mid-March. Amazing to see this striking NFR Red-necked Footman (Atolmis rubricolis) emerge from it! Not overly common in Shropshire by the looks of it, so super excited!

Best of the rest in a good night for diversity (not the dance troupe, but sure they're fine too..). These were nfy, along with 6 others. Garden list is still very low, but leaps to 69 for the year.

Searching Common Knapweed yesterday proved successful for these two Coleophora moth species: Coleophora paripennella (Bronze Case-bearer) and Coleophora conspicuella (Knapweed Case-bearer) plus food plant and habitat. Both were new for the site.
