The Spanish delegation continues to deliver leadership today on international tax matters. The call for public country by country reports is particularly timely & relevant to be considered by the #UNTaxConvention , to right a decades long wrong that solidifies deep injustices. #FFD

I find most disconcerting that apparently the European External Action Service - EEAS 🇪🇺 has been attempting to be even more obstructive in its diplomatic interventions at #FFD than fellow Western countries over at the G7 have been. At least, the G7 have recently noted the #UNTaxConvention in their communiqué.

There is clearly no EU consensus on #UNTaxConvention . Country inputs to the negotiations vary widely (&healthily). & as Markus Meinzer says, EU members joined G7 in noting the importance of the negotiations. So who is driving EU position now to be outright opposition? And why??

- We expect all govt to negotiate in good faith
- Time is critical. Loosing over a bn USD a day in tax revenue.
- An UN framework convention on tax is in interest of all countries. All loose!
