The inaugural National Fishing Remembrance Day took place at South Pier today with Lowestoft lifeboat in attendance and Mayor Sonia Barker, MP Peter Aldous and a standard bearer from the Royal Naval Patrol Service together with members of the local fishing industry also present.

On the 1st National Fishing Remembrance Day we remember and commemorate all those who have lost their lives while working in the UK fishing industry.

Following the action at Wisbech and Gosport Asda stores, Asda Lowestoft staff took strike action today over cuts to hours, health and safety and equal pay.
