A reminder of why #Rafah must not see further violence:

1) 600,000 children are there, nowhere safe is left

Heavy explosive weapons cause huge harm.

Lives shattered, cities ruined: no food, no water, no electricity. One year on, 85 States signed the #EWIPA political declaration to curb the use of heavy explosive weapons in urban warfare.

Let's call for ALL States to sign.

As part of #PoCWeek2023 , 🇦🇹 hosted a side event on #ProtectingCivilians from the use of #EWIPA .

Civilian fatalities from #explosiveweapons surged by 130% in 2023 compared to the previous year.

This alarming increase underscores the urgent need to enforce and expand support for the #EWIPA declaration, protecting lives in populated areas.

⏰ The time for complacency is up:

Palestinian diplomat Riham Barghouty speaks out in Oslo, calling for justice and accountability for the desolation in Gaza, where the most explosives have been dropped in a populated area in history.

No amount of reconstruction or reparations can undo the harm caused.
