The Indian Workers' Association was set up in Coventry in 1938 to fight for India's freedom & to champion the rights of workers.

IWA is working with University of Warwick to deliver a series of workshops, enabling students aged 18-25 to engage with this history.

I have fond memories of Catherine Hall roleplaying a conversation with Melvyn Bragg using exactly this sentence, at a ModernBritishStudies workshop

Remember when your first homework of the year was to cut out some vaguely relevant pictures from magazines, stick them to your exercise book and cover it with sticky-back plastic?

Amazon has announced they're phasing out their checkout-less grocery stores.

The 'Just Walk Out' technology, which was labeled as automatic, was actually 1,000+ Indian employees monitoring you as you walked through the store.

I created a cool web app using Ordnance Survey data - British Placename Mapper (placenames.rtwilson.com). It allows you to search for place names that match various criteria (starts with 'great', ends with 'burgh' etc) and plot them on an interactive map.

There were coachloads of miners from Wales who came to Saltley to picket the coking depot only to find out it was closed. They ended up staying at the Muhammad Ali Centre in Birmingham, eating curried goat and playing dominoes with local Black and Asian people who supported them.

I've been searching high and low for someone who appeared in (or a family member of theirs - perhaps more likely) Philip Donnellan's 1964 film The Colony about West Indian immigrants in Birmingham. It's for a piece for Birmingham Dispatch

If anyone can help, please get in touch!
