Develop support networks: It is important for parents to build a strong support network of friends, family, and other parents who understand their situation. This can provide emotional support, practical help, and a sense of belonging. buff.ly/3pnBK07

Hi all, I'm looking for a parent who has had to give up work because of lack of childcare for their disabled child. Someone who would be happy to be interviewed for TV. Many thanks

Wrote this in 2019 about institutional ACEs (system trauma) with the inimitable Dr Wendy Thorley. A pioneer in her field with a long lens. If you'd like a PDF copy, just DM me. I'm happy to share on and hope it widens the conversation.

Lately I've been thinking there's scope for a large scale project to tackle parent carer trauma. They are the perfect places to engage and explore wellbeing through story sharing... anyone interested?

This document by Dr Joanna Griffin and Affinityhub.uk
is a very upsetting but necessary read. It would be wonderful if the Department for Education could engage with the findings and acknowledge that putting parents and carers through this is not justifiable.

Recognise so many themes/issues in this comprehensive document.

As a parent I found it thought provoking and useful. For people and practitioners who know and/or support parent carers, I think it’s essential reading.

Thank you Jo and Affinityhub.uk.🙏🏻

We suspected that trauma was more prevalent than often recognised by professionals, and parents themselves. Meaning they miss out on support.
