Is the offspring’s DNA methylome a possible mechanism through which direct and indirect genetic effects act? Yes! In this new Netherlands Twin Register preprint, we found 51 offspring CpGs related to parental or offspring PGSs for schizophrenia, EA, BMI & height. 1/4

3/4 🎬Check out an example of IV-CLPM in action! 🚬🍺 Using polygenic scores, explores causation between & use in Netherlands Twin Register. Results reveal proximal effects of alcohol on smoking, along with lagged reverse effects of smoking on alcohol.

Fiona Hagenbeek Netherlands Twin Register Jenny van Dongen Center for Open Science Genetic interpretations of twin studies are based on the assumption that MZ and DZ environments are 'equal.' As critics have argued for 90+ years, this assumption is clearly false, leading to a false set of conclusions. The review makes no mention of this key assumption.
