Is the offspring’s DNA methylome a possible mechanism through which direct and indirect genetic effects act? Yes! In this new Netherlands Twin Register preprint, we found 51 offspring CpGs related to parental or offspring PGSs for schizophrenia, EA, BMI & height. 1/4
John Burn-Murdoch Liz M If you're interested in Dutch cohort data, there's 20+ years of mental health and behavioural problem data from Netherlands Twin Register (overview here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31666148/), as well as the Generation R cohort (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…).
New team wellbeing publication! 🎉
We (Dirk Pelt Meike Bartels Netherlands Twin Register ) investigated the stability and change in wellbeing across the lifespan (5 to 75+ years).

Thanks to all collaborators (Dr Elsje van Bergen and Twitterless others), and to the twins participating in the Netherlands Twin Register Netherlands Twin Register !
And the best poster in statistical genetics goes to...🥁 Charlotte Pahnke!🏆 According to the jury, for her wonderful work on methods development, integrating family models with measured DNA, to estimate gene-environment correlation. 👏

3/4 🎬Check out an example of IV-CLPM in action! 🚬🍺 Using polygenic scores, explores causation between #smoking & #alcohol use in Netherlands Twin Register. Results reveal proximal effects of alcohol on smoking, along with lagged reverse effects of smoking on alcohol. #CausalInference
🚨📝We have updated our preprint 'Comorbidity and causality among #ADHD #dyslexia & #dyscalculia '! We have now equated prevalences (<10%). Interested in #ReadingFluency and #spelling disorders? See supplements. Kees-Jan Kan Dr. Sara A. Hart Netherlands Twin Register psyarxiv.com/epzgy

Fiona Hagenbeek Netherlands Twin Register Jenny van Dongen Center for Open Science Genetic interpretations of twin studies are based on the assumption that MZ and DZ environments are 'equal.' As critics have argued for 90+ years, this assumption is clearly false, leading to a false set of conclusions. The review makes no mention of this key assumption. #EEAtwins
