Grateful that the fire is out. We passed the Melanie Diaz Fire Safety Act this year as a first step to improve safety in high rise apartments. I will keep working on #firesafety until all of our residents are safe.

My heart goes out to family members who lost loved ones in the bridge collapse. We are also forever grateful to the first responders who responded quickly to save lives and those who continue their efforts to provide closure to the families who lost loved ones.

This much is clear: the actions of first responders & officials who stopped traffic from going on the bridge before it collapsed saved lives. I'm thankful for them and all who have worked tirelessly all day in search of survivors.

Their heroism is ray of light on this dark day.
