He took us through the establishment of the UPR, its objectives, basic principles and its successes and challenges. The UPR is a unique mechanism of the Human Rights Council that requires each UN Member State to undergo a peer review of its human rights records every 5 years.

In partnership with UtuWetu, we convened members of the Coalition Against Sexual Violence, Survivors of Sexual Violence in Kenya and other stakeholders for a Universal Periodic Review (UPR) capacity building session led by Gilbert Onyango, ED - The East African Centre for Human Rights and Coordinator UPR Coalition Kenya.
