May 2nd, 2024 was the 97th anniversary of Buck v Bell, which upheld a VA law allowing for involuntary sterilization of disabled people.

At 2pm today, in DC at the House Capitol Triangle, Disability activists and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Tammy Duckworth, and others will be holding a historic celebration for it!

It’s pretty sad that Rep. James Comer can’t handle his own committee. Bernie Sanders held it down when a Senator stood up to physically fight a witness.
Come on Comer, take control of your committee or pass the gavel. 🤦🏾♂️
This law does nothing to protect the public from crime, and it was passed over the objections of Tyre Nichols parents, who by the way pushed for reforms that this law overturned. Oh also Representative John Gillespie lied to their faces telling by telling them he wouldn’t run the bill.
