At the women’s market in Yekavalang-1 District, Bamyan Province, UN Women recently inaugurated a solar-power electricity system. We also helped the women market vendors establish a savings group to save for electricity, system maintenance & bulk purchases for their businesses.

Children bear the brunt of the assistance cuts. Sustained funding is vital.

This week, I accompanied UNICEF South Asia Regional Director Sanjay Wijesekera to the Indira Gandhi hospital in Kabul, where UNICEF Afghanistan's partnership w/ Asian Development Bank & World Bank South Asia enabled 20M Afghans, half of whom are #children , to access lifesaving health services last year.

Water is a lifeline for farmers in #Afghanistan .
