Our second best January ever with 81 species (after 2016 with 82), six up on 2023 and five up on average. Best birds: Ferruginous Duck (Tim Harris ), Caspian Gull, Mediterranean Gull, Lapwing, Woodcock, Snipe, Chiffchaff, Treecreeper, Firecrest, Cetti’s Warbler #londonbirds
So far in 2024 WREN Group have observed no less than four male skylarks singing on Wanstead Flats.

Had a wonderful time catching up with Chris Gannaway and his wife Margaret in Redbridge earlier this week. It was also lovely to meet conservationists Tajinder, Raymond and Tim Harris. I learned tree ID in Claybury Woods, saw bluebells in Wanstead and Skylarks in Hainault!
