He then returned to Carshalton permanently in the summer after a loan…

Wednesday Archive Day. This photograph taken in 2011 shows the course of River Wandle near Ruskin Road, Carshalton. The water flows from the Grotto in Carshalton Park and travels down to the High Street. At one time it split carrying water to the ponds and to the Westcroft Canal.

Thursday Postcard Day. This portrait postcard shows the Bath Room in Carshalton Water Tower. This Grade II listed building was built during the 18th Century contained a water-powered pump, which supplied water to Carshalton House and the fountains in its garden.

Monday Art Day. Shared with the museum as part of the Wandle Art Festival in 2021 this painting by Brenda Pennington shows the Grotto in Carshalton Park and the Wandle . This channel in the park flowed down to the High Street where it was diverted to the left and right.

In Carshalton, I saw 2 families of moorhens. The chicks look a bit like they've put their own eyeshadow on at this age. Most baby birds look quite alien but we don't tend to see them until they're fully feathered - waterfowl are an exception.
