The 50th Hangor Day!
On this day in 1971, #PakistanNavy 's submarine #PNSHangor torpedoed and sunk #IndianNavy 's frigate INS Khukri and damaged INS Kirpan. Around 200 officers and sailors onboard INS Khukri were killed, including the CO of the ship Capt Mahendra Nath Mulla.
On this day, the 9th December 1971, Pakistan Navy’s Daphné-class submarine #PNSHangor under the valiant command of Commander Ahmed Tasnim, sank Indian Navy’s anti-submarine frigate, INS Khukri, with a torpedo, becoming the first submarine with a recorded kill after World War II.
