What if you could motivate people to buy without using typical sales tactics?

In Bob Moesta's talk at , 'Demand-side Sales 101', he reimagines the JTBD theory, applying it to sales with a fresh perspective.

Intriguing, isn't it? 🤔

JTBD that every Salesforce PM should include:

When a Salesforce admin needs to configure their Salesforce org, they want to complete the setup quickly and with minimal clicks, so that they can efficiently manage the system without wasting time clicking.

Question for folks who said “I am an expert in JTBD”:

What is the 1 book that you’d most recommend for learning how to apply JTBD?

(also fine to link to an article or a video instead)

My answer (though I don’t view myself as a JTBD expert): Demand-side Sales by Bob Moesta

Shreyas Doshi Recently read 'The Secret Lives of Customers'. It's a short, fictional read for anyone who wants to get started with JTBD.

there is so much friction in the modern software experience, it's mind-blowing. the JTBD is buried behind a matrix of dark patterns.

Shreyas Doshi Not an expert, but I've implemented JTBD 3x. I recommend 3 different books depending on the situation (recs follow).

Shreyas Doshi I find JTBD to be MBA-fied user research. The only valuable thing I took away from it was the structure of functional, emotional <personal, social> jobs.
Open to changing my mind.

- Imtercom for executing on the JTBD Framework
- Mixpanel - Industry-specific analytics
- Maze for UX research
