In summary, reverse transcription creates a new gene, neo, which encodes a protein that functions as the effector arm for antiphage immunity. DNA goes to RNA, back to DNA, back to RNA, and finally to protein. Put another way: Central Dogma 'Reversed' and then put back into Drive.
