This is definitely one of the longest running projects in the lab b/c we were stuck in a trap of thinking about Sie proteins blocking competing phages. But wasn't a satisfying answer to fit the biology we observed - kudos to Véronique Taylor for persevering and figuring it out!

New prepint alert @themaxwelllab! 📢 📢 📢 Superinfection exclusion (Sie) proteins aren’t just for defence – they also ensure the spread of viral progeny! Prophages that lack Sie proteins devour their young via a process we call the Kronos effect.

The University of Toronto, Department of Biochemistry is searching for an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream. FYI, these positions are analogous to research 'tenure-stream' in that following a successful 6 yr review promotion is to Associate Prof (continuing status).
