An important point from @DarrenGrimes77. We have been contacted by insiders and told that many Alzheimer's Society staff are devastated disappointed and distressed by the release of this anomalous damaging and divisive video.

Willy Gilder Alzheimer's Society It's an illness currently with no cure as we know. You can die living or live dying Painting a bleak picture achieves what? Frighten people Remind them of their fate I lost a parent to a sudden event -Cared for in-laws (dem) over many years.. I know which journey I would choose

5 I am upset because there are so few positive media portrayals of dementia. Where are the posters showing Ron and Howard running a radio station Deepness Dementia Media or the folk from STAND in Fife producing a CD? So my reality isn't represented 🧵

1 I've been thinking more about Alzheimer's Society ad & reaction to it. Some ppl are critical of the 'living well with dementia' idea that I unashamedly advocate for. They say that this shows ppl are wrongly diagnosed and/or don't have dementia 🧵

The only thing I don’t like about this is that I’m not going 😭

Great to see lots of excitement at Liverpool John Lennon Airport this morning for the first Jet2tweets flights.

Liverpool Airport is getting stronger and it’s great to see ✈️ 🎉

Robert Howard Alzheimer's Society oh please don’t do a negative campaign….loss is such a challenging aspect of AD-and continues day by day. We really need to focus on strengths

Robert Howard Surely what people with dementia and their loved ones want is the feeling that there can be hope. They know there’s no cure, but reminding them of their dilemma in such a graphic, emotive and hopeless way seems tantamount to cruelty. AS should know better. Suzy Webster 👩‍🚀

The Boudica My guess is that an agency told them a more brutal message played well with focus groups of potential funders/donors.

The Alzheimer’s Society are about to make a terrible mistake with a grim and negative advertising campaign, saying people literally stop living with various losses with dementia. Not only is this a 180 degree reversal of their previous message, it isn’t true. Don’t do it. Please.
