Please do read this piece…beautifully expressed…about living well with dementia…it’s about feelings and sensitivity and joy, not what we cannot do.

2 weeks today Scottish Brain Sciences will be hosting a major public engagement event in Edinburgh to map out the pathway to curing Alzheimer’s disease - over 200 people registered already. Hope to see you there. It’s a rhetorical question 👇 eventbrite.com/e/can-we-preve…

An excellent keynote from Professor Chris Whitty this morning, recognising dementia as one of the greatest health and societal challenges of our time.

Great to hear the CMO reaffirm the importance of early diagnosis for those who want it & support for new diagnostic technologies.

The Alzheimer's Society own survey of experiences of dementia show high rates of fear about getting a diagnosis, fear of disclosure and experiences of stigma
Improving diagnostic rates may also require some careful work on comms how to avoid contributing to stigma and fear

For Dementia Action Week I'm taking part in a panel discussion on 'The Father'. I have mixed feelings about the film. It's a great piece of drama, but I'm not happy about its portrayal of dementia. Really interested to hear anyone's thoughts

It's Action Week with an emphasis on diagnosis. Rates for diagnosis vary wildly across the U.K., but with new drugs on the horizon a timely diagnosis has never been more important.

Look all I’m saying is that those of us who were asleep last night and missed the have read Day of the Triffids and are sad that most of you on here will shortly go blind and be eaten by that clematis in your back garden (fairly sure that’s the plot).
