The Australian Government is so confident that fossil fuel use is going to increase in Australia that they are actively budgeting for it.
Renewable energy...not so much.

Interest rate aren’t the only way to control inflation - if we lower the price of child care, medicine & uni degrees then the CPI would fall & life would be cheaper…and if your’e worried about the budget deficit…scrap the $14bn per year in fossil fuel subsidies

This reads like an expansion strategy not a transition strategy. Fossil fuels need to be the fuel of last resort from now on. We can’t use short term problems to justify bad long term decisions. smh.com.au/politics/feder…

Labor’s “Future Gas Strategy” is a future climate disaster…hard to believe in 2024 we still have governments pretending we just need to expand fossil fuel production to “help tackle climate change”. This is bad science, bad economics and i suspect bad politics

In 2022 Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen announced that failure to act on climate change would be an “unforgivable act of intergenerational negligence”. The Government's Future Gas Strategy should be re-titled: Unforgivable Act of Intergenerational Negligence.

On the Drum Polly Hemming debunked the idea that gas is a crucial industry.

'It's not a big employer. It doesn't pay much tax. Profits go offshore.'

'If anything it costs the Australian economy.'
