Over the last two days, Nordic and African Foreign Ministers met in Copenhagen.

We had open and friendly exchanges on global governance, rule of law, cross-regional partnerships, green growth, sustainable food chains and on how to go from aid to trade. Really inspiring! 🌍

With climate change comes an urgent need to invest in climate resilient societies & sustainable food production. Good mtg w/ #Zambia FM Mulambo Haimbe.

🇿🇲 is a priority for 🇳🇴’s @Norfund w/major investments in green energy @Cecinvestor, food security @260brands and microfinance.

Good conversation with Rwanda’s FM @vBiruta on regional security and new opportunities for economic and multilateral cooperation.

We also jointly chaired a session on comprehensive peacebuilding in Africa at the Nordic-African Foreign Ministers meeting in Copenhagen. @Rwandagov

Norway and Namibia enjoy a broad and longstanding friendship.

Good to talk business promotion and multilateral cooperation with Minister of International relations, Dr. Dr Peya Mushelenga.

There is a strong civil society engagement for Namibia in Norway, not the least in #Elverum !

Impressed and inspired by Somalia, where, despite security challenges and impacts of climate change, the government is working hard to strengthen institutions & attracting new investments.

Partnering with Angola FM Tete Antonio on our G20 guest country status: we share a strong commitment to strengthening the multilateral system and respect for international law.

Constructive discussions on how to reinvigorate work for peaceful settlement with Algerian FM @AhmedAttaf_DZ, a wise and active voice on the Security Council.

Attending the 2024 Nordic-African foreign ministers meeting in Copenhagen 🇩🇰.

Good exchanges on global governance reform, green transition, a UN tax convention and the need to uphold international law and global norms universally in an increasingly divided world.

Finished my visit to Oslo by meeting with Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide. I'm proud to have 🇳🇴 as our ally, friend & partner. We agreed to launch an international humanitarian fund to support political prisoners & their families, 🇳🇴 making the first contribution of 850k euros.

I am deeply worried about the civilian population in El Fasher, #Sudan .

It is crucial to de-escalate the tense situation and to halt any assault on El Fasher.

The Sudanese people have suffered far too much. They deserve to live in peace.

So glad to receive Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in Oslo today. She has our full support in her fight for human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Belarus.

The human rights situation is appalling.

Norway consistently raises the issue in United Nations, OSCE and bilaterally w/ 🇧🇾’ authorities.

A warm meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas at an extremely critical moment for Palestine, the Middle East and the World, preparing for today’s Arab-European ministerial meeting in Riyadh.

The war must stop now, and we need to see an irreversible path to a #TwoStateSolution .

Norway works closely with engaged Arab & European countries to take us from the current cycle of violence into a genuine lasting political solution.

How to end the suffering & find sustainable solutions in the #MiddleEast was the focus of my mtg w/ Espen Barth Eide.

The Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee co-chaired by EU & Norway is a key forum in this context.

Need to move from managing crises to implementing the two-state solution.

Good meeting with Georgian FM Ilia Darchiashvil.

Norway supports Georgia’s efforts for European integration, in line with the wishes of the Georgian people.

The current window of opportunity should be used to the fullest. 🇬🇪
