⚽️ The Government will set up an independent football regulator for English club football.

❌ Several clubs have suffered as a result of their owners.

✅ Dr Christina Philippou, sport finance lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, says the regulator will try to be proactive.

The Independent Regulator must have strong powers of intervention in situations that pose a risk to clubs across the pyramid.

Anything that falls short of this will be a missed opportunity to safeguard the future of football.
