The real big story of local elections 2024 is that the Liberal Democrats have won more council seats than the Tories. It would be nice if the media now gave us the coverage that result deserves.

Andy Street’s defeat (and he was a good mayor, so my sincere commiserations) will be a huge blow to Tory MPs. None of them has a personal vote even a fraction as big as Andy’s, they’ll see this result and conclude the obvious. Also... I wonder if Andy might have won under SV?

Lib Dems have beaten the Tories into 3rd across the country. Utterly amazing. This is surely the biggest story of this election. Currently waiting for certain commentators to stop waffling on about those losers at Reform and update their hot takes… 😉

Huge relief at Blackburn Rovers survival, but there is so much wrong at the club: Owners who care very little about us and are mired in their own difficulties, administrative leadership seemingly not up the job, and a manager who remains unconvincing. A great win today though, phew!🔵⚪️
