PS There's an assymetry of knowledge about startups vs academia as academics publish their best works and startups generally don't. If you're outside the startup ecosystem, it's really hard to know what's happening.

IMHO right now the most impact is being made outside of academia, but most inside academia just aren't privy to it.

To an extent, I live in both worlds (albeit full time in VC startup land and only these days touching academia), and the difference is stark.

This significant reduction in NIH funding for computational bio comes right at the time when it's super super hot in startup land.

The consequences will be more departures from academia, which net net will be a very positive trend.

But those transitions often aren't easy.

I'm not so sure this is a bug, probably even a feature. It asked GPT to 'pick a number' and it apparently has preferences. Less so if you ask for a random number.

The prompt matters a ton in this game of course.

In healthcare, however, legislators have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to safely and effectively usher the most significant advancement of our time in life sciences and healthcare.

Whether or not AI improves the health of Americans is up to how we regulate it.

Thanks Natasha Loder 🐋 for a great conversation on AI’s impact on drug development over the past decade, and why regulators must keep pace to maximize the impact of this new wave of medicines.
