uAspire thanks the Legislature, Senator Andrew Gounardes, & Governor Kathy Hochul for prioritizing the students of New York by passing Universal FAFSA policy. Thanks to Young Invincibles The Education Trust–New York for supporting this effort!
NY's Class of 2023 left $226 million in Pell Grants behind because by not completing FAFSA. We need Universal FAFSA passed in the budget. #nodollarleftbehind #universalfafsa #fafsacompletion Governor Kathy Hochul Carl E. Heastie Sen. Stewart-Cousins Senator Andrew Gounardes

uAspire advises low-income students to find affordable pathways to postsecondary education. FAFSA completion is essential to that process. We are asking the MA & NY legislatures to #SupportUniversalFAFSA and ensure equitable access to financial aid information for students.
📢Students in New York & Massachusetts left over $278M in unused Pell funding on the table last year by not completing the FAFSA. We can ensure that these funds don’t go unused by calling on the Massachusetts & New York legislatures to #SupportUniversalFAFSA
👉 Students who complete the FAFSA by the end of their senior year are 84% more likely to enroll in college. By acting now to #SupportUniversalFAFSA , the New York & Massachusetts legislatures can ensure that each state’s most vulnerable students are accessing financial aid
⚠️ 40% of first-generation students and 37% of low-income students said they completed the FAFSA alone compared to just 11% of higher-income students. The New York & Massachusetts legislatures have an opportunity to change this trend #SupportUniversalFAFSA
Financial aid offers are complex and jargony. uAspire spoke with #CollegeUncovered podcast from GBH News + The Hechinger Report about the challenges for students. For the interview and examples of what our students see, check out our recent blog post: uaspire.org/news-events/th…
Too many prospective students don’t consider college due to concerns about costs. This is one of many reasons we are asking you to join us in calling on legislators in New York & Massachusetts to #SupportUniversalFAFSA
