This just seems like a silly stunt but anyone offended by the idea should read about who the airport is currently named after

Today is another opportunity for reporters to loudly condemn the prosecution of Julian Assange—even if you don't like him.

The case has profound implications for core press freedom rights in the US. Countless journalists at major papers will be affected. freedom.press/news/uk-grants…

A pretty worrying moment in the Supreme Court’s social media hearing, where Justice Jackson and a state lawyer both seemed to agree that the government can pressure social media companies to take down classified info.

This should concern all journalists! freedom.press/news/classifie…

The PRESS Act would finally end federal surveillance of journalists.

It's the most important press freedom bill in modern times.

This is just nuts. House Intel chair tells colleagues they need to reauthorize FISA 702 so the gov't can spy on anti-war protesters outside Chuck Schumer's house.

Chuck Schumer & Hakeem Jeffries can to stop this by requiring warrants for backdoor searches. Will they do it?

'…he's running through slides, making his case for why 702 reauthorization is needed,” a senior GOP aide tells WIRED. “Then he throws up that photo. The framing was: ‘Here are protesters outside of Chuck Schumer's house. We need to be able to use 702 to query these people.’”

A betrayal of the First Amendment and a great gift to authoritarians around the world, who will soon be citing this profoundly misguided bill to justify new restrictions on their own citizens' access to ideas, information, and media from abroad.

If you care about the First Amendment, please stop everything and read this WIRED article. Tl;dr: House intelligence committee (HPSCI) members are blocking reforms to FISA Section 702 *because they want the FBI to spy on American protesters.* 1/20 wired.com/story/hpsci-us…

If you use 'Smart Driver,' your detailed driving data is going to data brokers. It's possible you have it turned on & don't realize it.

With criminal justice, time can drag. But here:
▪️ Dept of Justice reversed course 2 days after our story
▪️ Yesterday a judge vacated Keyon Paylor's conviction
▪️ Today the pending indictment was tossed

9 days after ProPublica's story, the case is closed. Paylor's exonerated.

Such questions include: Why is the DOJ trying to limit who qualifies as a journalist? Why is the DOJ using a law it admits is vague and prone to abuse to target newsgathering? Is the DOJ ignoring the law and its own policies on investigations of journalists?
