Significant numbers of women reported having a traumatic birth experience in 2020 as compared to pre-pandemic rates where as many as ⅓ experienced a traumatic birth. Women with traumatic birth experiences are at higher risk for anxiety and depression. #MMHWeek2023

Often family members and partners are overlooked during the postpartum period. Postpartum depression can impact everyone. With this in mind, it is important we give grace to all who are experiencing and impacted by a maternal mental health disorder. #MMHWeek2023
Postpartum psychosis occurs in approximately 1-2 out of every 1,000 deliveries, with symptoms occurring as early as the first 48 to 72 hours postpartum. However, most episodes develop within the first 2 weeks.

Unwanted “intrusive” thoughts are common for pregnant & postpartum women. When suffering from anxiety these thoughts can be persistent. Some feel a certain action or compulsion to relieve the discomfort of a trigger- these thoughts may be associated w/ OCD #MMHWeek2023
Most common MMH disorders are anxiety followed by depression. These can be mild or so severe they become debilitating. Study during the pandemic shows that rates of clinically significant anxiety & depression symptoms have more than doubled - 72% & 41% respectively. #MMHWeek2023
