So many politicians catering to vocal (sometimes violent) minorities rather than doing what the people who voted for them want. What the majority wants. So much fear of pissing off these awful people. This is not the way to go.

A very loud, violent minority has learned that they can do whatever they want and now it's everybody's problem.

And I do mean EVERYBODY'S problem. We are to the point where doing nothing is not on the table. Doing nothing is tacitly agreeing with fash.

A loud minority pushed back against mask requirements and vaccine requirements and got their way even though the majority supported those things.

And loud minorities (or individuals!) are getting books banned.

And now this crap with Target’s Pride collection. Over & over.

Excellent RotJ thread. (I knew most of this, but then I used to watch my VHS recording— off TV— of the Making of the Return of the Jedi special over & over.)

Today is another day when the messages from the different communities that I serve are just overwhelming.
There are so many non-elderly people with life-changing illnesses at the moment.

Every time I talk about my disability people mention disabled “fakers.” It seems to be the 1st thing they think of. So I decided to memorize some stats to counter this narrative…🧵 (1/?)

110,000 people died waiting for disability approval in the last decade…

If more people were aware of the things mentioned in this thread, more people would be outraged (I hope) about how badly disabled people are treated.

So many of us never get disability benefits & those that do are stuck in poverty & are often in fairly dire straits.

Wish it were better, but hey— get the bivalent booster if you haven’t yet and are eligible. Almost everyone was eligible for the 1st dose, the 2nd dose is more limited (age 65 & up, immunocompromised folks).

(Really wish I could get a 2nd booster.) (sigh.)

When you’re the only person wearing a mask at the DMV and you overhear someone say “back during COVID” as if COVID is no longer a thing (it is still very much a thing).

I’m sure some of the folks with heart attacks, strokes, new autoimmune disorders, new diabetes diagnoses, etc. might have had these things anyway, but a lot are due to COVID and I’m guessing many people are not making the connection.
