? Looks like a battered saucepan, but is in fact a Malayan mess tin. Inside, was rice, beans, sterilizing tablets, salt, toothbrush, two tins of condensed milk, two glass measures and two awls. Brought back from Malaya by members of the 1st Bn SWB in the 1950s.

? This bullwhip was exchanged for two sterilizing tablets in Eritrea, 1951 by Pte Greaney, 1st Bn, SWB. Local tribesmen thought the tablets made the British soldiers strong, after losing arm wrestling contests to them, so agreed to swap the it for some tablets!
