The peak numbers occur in winter❄️ months, so on the #WorldOtterDay we know that at least this is the lowest roadkill risk time for this species in the UK.

This chart from Yellowstone Safe Passages does a good job illustrating a key #roadecology concept: High traffic rates can *reduce* roadkill while simultaneously exacerbating the barrier effect, since animals (or at least large mammals) often don't attempt to cross busy highways.
