JohnFrankenheimer's FRENCH CONNECTION II opened in New York OTD in 1975. Respectable reviews & BO, but not nearly the sensation its predecessor was.

“It's a Pistol sir.”

THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (1962)

A scene that shocks me even now, so back in '62 it must've really been something to behold in a big dark room we call a Cinema.

“The only Film that could follow The French Connection.”

FRENCH CONNECTION II (1975)

An original Trailer for the sequel - which ain’t a patch on the original, but which to be fair ain’t half bad too!

These were your ads for JohnFrankenheimer's BLACK SUNDAY, which opened OTD in NYC 46 yrs ago. It was one of Paramount's highest ever pre-release scoring films from test screenings, & the studio thought it would be the blockbuster of 1977. As in the film, tests did not bear fruit.
