A Kingfisher’s eye view - incredible! Just to stay alive each adult must eat half their body weight in small fish each day. If they have chicks, a pair of kingfishers must catch a further 70 fish each day. We have a duty to protect our rare and fragile chalkstreams!

This morning we were up with the larks before work removing paint tins and rubbish that had been chucked into part of the chalk stream network by some idiots. Remember, they walk among us. ☹️

Thanks to Russell ChalkStreamsInCrisis πŸƒπŸ’šπŸƒ for his help with this.

Utter thrill to find local Tuddenham Mill Stream, tributary of the River Lark, full of dozens of fine Brown Trout, mostly 12, 9 & 6 inches long. This one was sitting downstream of a fallen tree. s

Right back at you Jenny! X

And here’s a peak at how well Tory policy goes down at a river sewage protest compared to your ownβ€¦πŸ«’βœŠ

Thames Water πŸ’§ and Environment Agency Ofwat firmly in the cross hairs for their appalling treatment of our chalkstreams.
Keep in the fight for our rivers!

While he was filming an educational video I was frolicking with a fervour of frenzied spawning Minnows (Phoxinus phoxinus), males beautified by the little tubercles dotting their heads. 🧡1/9

Why would anyone fish manicured fisheries for domesticated farmed fish when wild contain wild beauties like this? 😍

Care for your river, and your river cares for you πŸ’™πŸ’š
