Darren Grimes In Northern Ireland, we do not vote for any Mayor. They are always nominated by their fellow councillors. It is always done on a rotational basis, i.e DUP for a year, UUP for a year etc. However, this is the only time that those guidelines were ignored. Basically her skin colour
iamyesyouareno Let's get one thing very clear. It is Northern Ireland, not Ireland. Our Mayoral positions are always done on a rotation. DUP one year, Alliance the next, etc. However in this case, all those democratic rules were tossed out and she was elected based on her skin colour only.
