Happy #WorldTapirDay from your tapir-iffic friends at #ZooMiami ! 🎉 Did you know Malayan tapirs are incredible swimmers? In the wild, they use this ability to hide from predators in deep water where they can remain submerged for several minutes! 🌿🐾

Mountain tapirs, like Mojito here, are very rare. Fewer than 2,500 are estimated to remain in the wild. The L.A. Zoo is proud to care for three out of the four mountain #Tapirs remaining in human care in the United States, and support field conservation efforts.
