I was walking along this fence when I started hearing a strange call…I pull the Merlin app out when all of the sudden, this spotted sandpiper flies up on the barbed wire!
I’m pretty sure there’s a retention pond behind the fence!

#WaderWednesday Let's hope we get a few of these lovely Wood Sandpiper in the next couple of weeks. This one was at Sker Point for a day last May.
I've not done #WaderWednesday for a few weeks, so here is very smart breeding plumaged Ruddy Turnstone taken at Sker a couple of days ago. Its an amazing difference in plumage from non breeding when they can be very tricky to find as they roost on the rocks.
