Between 1957-1989, only 20 women served in U.N peacekeeping missions globally.

Today, there are more than 6,200 women in peacekeeping missions with Rwanda topping charts as Rwandan uniformed women serve in South Sudan (UNMISS) as well as the Central African Republic (MINUSCA)
