Delighted to read that the grand old Stirlingshire Cup, first played back in 1883, is returning after a hiatus since 2016.

14 time winners Alloa last won the magnificent trophy back in 1997 after a dramatic 4-3 win v Clydebank.

Would love to see the trophy back at the Recs 🐝

The Stirlingshire Cup makes a welcome return. Featuring Alloa Athletic, Stirling Albion, Falkirk, Dumbarton, East Stirlingshire & Stenhousemuir. The draw for the competition, which was last contested in 2016, was set to take place this evening, 29/05/24 at the association AGM.

Great news if the Shire Cup is returning, a tournament with such a rich heritage. And hopefully gives the Wasps a chance to avenge the defeat against East Stirlingshire in the 1924 final #bringontheshire

This piece of cloth was stuffed into the mouth of a pot containing a hoard of 2,000 #Roman coins, found at #Falkirk in #Stirlingshire , #Scotland . It has a simple check design, popular amongst indigenous populations in northern Roman provinces - Maybe an early form of tartan?
