Often aka bee have a quirky trait. They replenish their cells by backing in to their home. First they fly home, check their tube out, then come out and back in. They do this to scrape off collected pollen from the hairs of the underside!

It's , so we're celebrating our Tawny Mining Bees and our Peace Garden residents, the masonry bees! We love when these little guys start buzzing around the cemetery, and it's clear to see that their numbers are growing year on year! 🐝

A female Chocolate Mining Bee (Andrena scotica) living up to its name in my garden yesterday. Its abdomen really does look as glossy as a bar of dark chocolate! Solitary Bee Week

It’s ! 🐝

Do you know the difference between a honeybee and solitary bee? As the name suggests, solitary bees live alone, but they also don’t produce honey or have a queen.

90% of our entire bee population is solitary – how many of these have you spotted? πŸ‘‡
