Looking up at the Roman lighthouse in Dover, one of only three remaining Roman lighthouses in the world. Built around 130AD, it was one of a pair that guided ships to the quayside at the Roman fort of Dubris.

The fort was established c. AD 77 to ensure control of the routes running north
