Waste of time getting out of bed to seawatch Porthgwarra this morning. Terrible sunrise. Only birds were Great, Cory's, Sooty, Balearic and Manx Shearwaters. Choughs making a racket. First and hopefully last time seeing a Risso's dolphin. Cornwall Birds

It didn’t turn out to be such a bad day, sea-watch from Porthgwarra 6-11 then Pendeen 11.30- 7.30

Manx Shearwater have arrived from their South Atlantic wintering grounds this week.

226 counted this morning from Porthgwarra. Puffin movement continues as well with a decent 124 (and another 61 yesterday). Sadly, the fog and rain ended better counts.

Some massive seas today off Porthgwarra. Two Great Skuas and Manx Shearwater topping around 1000 p/hr. were the only highlights.

Porthgwarra 7am – 5pm (personal totals): 25 Cory’s S’water, 2 Great S’water, 8 Sooty S’water, 2 Balearic S’water, 1 Puffin, 20 Storm Petrel, Arctic Skua & a Bottlenose Dolphin. Afternoon after 2pm session was excellent. Wind and rain, there’s no better place 😁. BirdGuides

Porthgwarra this morning. Less strength to the wind than yesterday but a “two-drop” metoffice forecast means heavy rain.

Two Pomarine Skua and 14 Arctic Tern were the highlights.

Poms were both full adults and in close. Graham the Birder also saw the same two from Mousehole 27 mins

Porthgwarra: in rough seas many Great Shearwaters & Storm Petrels, along with probably several 000’ Cory’s Shearwaters provided an astonishing spectacle, often causally passing-by very close to shore today. Just fantastic!
