There was a really lovely talk on pertussis/whooping cough at #ESPID2024 today. I won’t go into all the details as it’s been a long day! But there were two great messages. Considering what’s going on with whooping cough at the minute, both are important.

It's great to see everyone correctly identified the subconjunctival hemorrhage in this child, who is currently in the paroxysmal phase of pertussis (whooping cough).

And, you guessed it, “immunity debt” has been cited. Immunity debt, they claim, is due to lockdowns.

Can someone please explain, how the deceased 3 month old babies, born in 2024, weren’t exposed to pathogens in 2020?
