The 2023 WDES data suggests that 70,866 (4.9%) staff declared a disability on electronic staff record (ESR), increasing by 19.9% from 2022, but lower than the 142,730 (23.4%) of staff who reported a long-term illness through the 2022 NHS Staff Survey.
