It is #MiteMonday ! Here a photograph of a mite with a fascinating look for an eight legged creature. It is a Conoppia nymph wearing the skalps of preceding stages and having lateral setae shaped like broad leaves. Beautiful, isn´t it?! #Oribatida
It's #MiteMonday ! It is not a flying but a walking carpet! A damaeid nymph carrying debris and old skin as #camouflage on it's back.
#Oribatida
Finished 😊
This is my take on the color diversity in #Oribatids . Beautiful earthy tones from deep black to light yellow combined with the most fancy armor 😍

It's #MiteMonday again. Today we feature a photo of Nanhermannia cf. coronata. It is a slow moving palaearctic mite, which often occurs in wet habitats, like wet meadows, forests and bogs. #Oribatida
It is #MiteMonday ! Here a pic of a ghostly damaeid mite that almost looks like a walking crystal! #Oribatida , #Damaeoidea , #camouflage .
It is #MiteMonday ! Here a pic of an adult #Nothrus .
These mites are relatively large and often occur in wet habitats, like wet meadows or swamps. #Oribatida
It is #MiteMonday . Here a so-called 'boxmite'! It has got a ptychoid body, which means it can retract its legs into the opisthosoma and close like a seed or grain of sand. This behaviour is a protection against #predators , like Gamasina. #Oribatida , #Oribotritia
It's #MiteMonday . Here a lateral photo of Hermannia convexa. With a body length of 1,5 mm it is a giant among most other #Oribatida , which usually are only half a milimetre long.
It is #MiteMonday ! What looks like a decaying piece of wood is a Camisia spinifer. It is covered with debris and fungi but it is still alive, moving around slowly not to attract attention. #Oribatida , #Camouflage
One post more for this #MiteMonday ! Here is Tricheremaeus abnobensis an oribatid mite that we found in the lichen #Cladonianorvegica . This little hairy fellow is covered with the green soredia of the lichen.

#oribatida etching + aquatint!
I like how Oppiella turned out, also the dark Achipteria is okay I think. I need, however, more practice in producing the tones I anticipated with this acid bath. Process included several small crises, but I still love it 😵💫😍
It's #MiteMonday again! Here a picture of the oribatid mite Platynothrus peltifer, a geographically and ecologically widespread species. It dwells in forest soil and litter but can also be found in peatlands and various freshwater habitats. #Oribatida , #SoilBiodiversity
