Marsh Harrier this afternoon at Hollowell Reservoir, I think a second-summer female. An uncommon species here: typically only see 1-2 per year.

Deja-vu at Summerleys this evening - can't ever recall (for definite) seeing SE Owl on the reserve/Marys, so pleased to see/tick the current post-hugger by the main lake🙂. Black Tern still present too, plus a whole load of Swifts!

BBC Springwatch RSPB Bringing home the bacon, or field vole. This beauty caught at least 5 voles last night, each time diligently returning to it's nest site. trust

Not any ornithological science, but where in gods name have the House Martins gone this year?
Lost them from Earls Barton completely, hardly seen any whilst at work in south northants and MK.
Only viable population is on the new build at Upton meadows.

Stanford Reservoir - was away on Saturday when the 5 Black Terns were found so plsd to get it back today with a single bird on the patch. Also, Cuckoo, Hobby, Shelduck, 2 Goldeneye. Roe Deer as well which are pretty scarce. Stanford_RG Birds of Leicestershire & Rutland

Stanford Reservoir - when I found this Purple Heron earlier whilst looking for Reed Warbler! Only the 2nd ever record for the patch following one found by Mark L. Piper in 2011. Full fat patch tick - pretty happy with that one. Stanford_RG Birds of Leicestershire & Rutland

Record shots of a Black Tern at Summer Leys this afternoon, it was resting on the tern raft or near-by post. But kept being dislodged by Black-headed Gulls. Mike Alibone NatureUK RSPB
