It's equally trendy to claim that the abysmal NAEP results actually aren't alarming and public schools are good, but there are problems with this stance too:

- Whites and Asians vastly outperform their peers, so even if the numbers don't say what we think they do, it's bad.

Top counties by non-Hispanic white NAEP test scores from 2009-2019. DC and Manhattan at the top make sense, but some of the others are very surprising.

Biennial testing through NAEP consistently shows that two thirds of U.S. children are unable to read with proficiency.

Based on the results from NAEP over the years, I think parents should be concerned about educational neglect AND misuse of their tax dollars. Parents, not the government, know best what type of educational environment their children need.
