A few weeks ago I found this bottle ing on the Thames foreshore. Laying flat & almost completely submerged, unfortunately someone had trodden on it and it was already in pieces when I found it. Still I decided to take it home and had a go at repairing it!

Too big for the Thames?
The Thames is too shallow for a cruise ship this large to travel any further upstream than Greenwich, were it sits emitting up to as much diesel exhaust as 34,400 idling lorries a day, within a low emissions zone.

Is it necessary to? Should it be allowed?

Fresh from the Thames Foreshore this morning is this interesting piece of wood! After a quick rinse at home it’s revealed some details and is that a date I see?! 1669? I’ll be contacting the FLO tomorrow!

It was a bottlelicous day on the Thames foreshore today at low tide. Some beautiful pieces of Georgian kitchenware and this astounding mallet bottle dating I think to circa mid 18th century! I always love to imagine who touched them last. ing

I’ve seen some weird stuff come out of the mud, but this is one of the best. Found by a friend a couple of weeks ago, it’s carved from jade and could be quite old. A returning sailor having second thoughts about the souvenir he brought back from China? ing

Sorry, I know you’re all eating breakfast but yesterday I took this nit comb, preserved in my freezer, to the Museum of London’s FLO & he identified it as Roman. Made from boxwood, it’s survived 2,000 yrs in Thames mud & has Roman nits STILL visible

Some things I find washed up on the Thames at low tide stay exactly where I found them. I hope this guy floats right out to sea when the tide comes in! ing

Friday evening, on a very quiet, dark and sultry foreshore, the river finally gave me what I've been waiting 15 years for... a medieval pewter pilgrim badge. Thomas a Becket, c.14th century and the only hand that's touched it in almost 700 years is mine

And did you know that whales have ear wax?! Richard Sabin explained how important the ear wax is for research as it stores hormones and all sorts of info which can reveal the life story of a whale

It’s only January, but this may well end up being my ing find of the year: a miraculously mostly complete Roman cup. A less common form. Now having its contents x-rayed at the Museum of London.

I think this is a post medieval game piece, it’s flat on one side and domed on top. Glass Roman game pieces are found on the foreshore but they are usually plain black or white and I’m quite confident this swirly blue isn’t Roman

Either that or it’s a squashed marble
