In the fall of 2018 we headed straight for Texas to have a last visit with a friend who was dying of Cancer. On the way to AZ we stopped at Matagorda Bay, TX. JB took this capture and Grande Design used it on their Web Page.

On this day in Texas history, in 1689, Alonso de León discovered the ruins of French Fort St. Louis, which was established by Sieur de La Salle in 1685, after he missed the mouth of the Mississippi River & landed at Matagorda Bay. The occupants had been killed by the Karankawas.
