The provincial government has announced that it plans to amend the Ontario Building Code to permit structures as tall as 18-storeys. This represents the type of change we hoped would occur following the positive example set by Limberlost Place.

These changes will build on previous work to transform from a niche product to mainstream.

BC leads the way today, but we know Canada is right behind us. We expect other provinces to also adopt these changes in short order. 🍁

✅ Effective now, we're allowing for more exposure.

Based on height and use - more exposed mass timber is allowed. For residential buildings up to 8-storeys we’ve removed the requirement to encapsulate so more of the wood's beauty can be displayed. 🪵

Exciting to see officials in Ontario, Canada, amend the building code to allow for structures up to 18 stories. We'd also like to shout out the progress by leaders here in U.S., like Des Moines, Iowa, for recently adopting MT code provisions. bit.ly/3xvHaKN
