Zivia Lubetkin escaped the Warsaw ghetto through the underground sewer system as 1 of the leaders who fought back during the Uprising.

Architect Berthold Lubetkin was born on this day in Georgia. After studying in Paris he came to Britain and founded the Tecton practice. They designed a string of high modernist buildings in the 30s, both public and private, from London Zoo to the well to do Highpoint flats
