This clip gives a good flavour of last week's Parliamentary debate on LTNs. Theresa Villiers is quite right that while cycle safety is important & 'rat runs' must be dealt with, neither require LTNs.

Lambeth council in south London has spent huge sums on rain gardens, low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs), cycle lanes and meeting its net zero ambitions despite serious failings across its core services and debts

It’s shocking what councils have pushed upon communities. Providing for some while increasing harm, danger and suffering upon children walking and cycling outside LTNs.

The lies were shocking ….

The sacrificing was even worse …

While making millions in income..

I witness this most days & it really scares me. Making a right hand turn at this junction is particularly dangerous now as LTNs have relocated so much traffic onto residential Dalston Lane & in the past 1+ yr the number of HGVs speeding along this road has risen greatly.

On May 22, 1762, the Trevi Fountain was officially completed and inaugurated in Rome. Today also marks 437 days since Cllr Sarah Warren said she wanted a healthy debate on LTNs and how we get around in Bath. We hope she won't leave us waiting 262 years.

Ambulance struggling through traffic …. Increased congestion upon high road thanks to LTNs is clear to see … West Green road may be closed but this is a daily occurrence. Emergency service workers are scared to speak out. I speak to many and they all say the same things. LTNs

What strikes me most about national service idea is how authoritarian it is. It’s v authoritarian. It steals liberty. Yet kind of voters it’s meant to appeal to are v exercised about things like LTNs, 15 minute cities & lockdowns. They’re v angry about controls on *their* liberty

Sacrificing

I'm live at the pro-traffic rally in Oxford city centre. Ostensibly a protest against LTNs, or low-traffic neighborhoods, it's an intoxicating mix of far-right conspiracy slogans, antisemitism and really terrible hip-hop.
